And We're Back

May 22, 2019 by Lisa

It’ll be four years since we brought these girls home and I’d like to update, if only to keep this as a journal. I don’t use facebook anymore but I’ll add these posts there because so many people were so supportive and loving during our adoption process. I’ve been meaning to get back to this - to writing in general so for now, on this topic. I keep renewing the website fee each year and each year I think about putting updates on….and so on and so on. I guess insta and (for a while til I all but left) fb took over this journaling role but I’d like to offer more context for those interested and really for my future self. I like reading things that I wrote about from years ago because so much is forgotten unless I do. It’s the little details that mean the most.

Well, these posts are all in the usual order from latest to oldest so in order to see when things got really interesting and we left for China in the last week of May 2015, one has to scrooooollll baaaack all the way to the beginning. I’m still not finding a way to make that process any easier on squarespace, like a table of contents or something, assuming anyone is reading this, again this is mainly for me and especially for anyone interested in adoption who stumbles upon this. To those: you’re here for a reason. Welcome.

So when I have a little more time I’ll post some new information, and anything within the last 3plus years will count as new. I don’t know where I’ll start so I’ll just let my muse decide. Right now I have to jump in on a meeting with the twins’ teachers to discuss their readiness for FIRST grade already. Seems they tend to be quiet in a group setting and its difficult for teachers to gauge their level of understanding when they have to express it vocally. I’m not worried but I’m worried if you know what I mean since it’ll be three teachers in on this, their K teacher, a first grade teacher and a teacher who evaluated them (reading? writing? prob both and more). So, a roundtable discussion. It’ll be fine. I’ll keep you and future me posted.

x.
